Paddle the winding salt marsh trails of Little Assawoman Bay searching for elusive rails, and witness an abundance of shorebirds, wading birds, and osprey. Must be 13 years old to participate. Friday 8-11:30 a.m. $20 per single kayak; $35 per tandem

Join Return to Nature outfitters to paddle the Delaware Bay shoreline between salt marsh and bay beach looking for wading birds, shorebirds, rails, and colorful songbirds. Sunday 1:30-4 p.m.; $20 per single kayak, $35 per tandem.

Paddle the winding marsh trails of the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center searching for wading birds, waterfowl, and osprey. Friday 1:30-4:00 p.m.; $20 per single kayak, $35 per tandem. Don't forget to attend the 5 p.m. tally rally at Fisherman's Crab Deck at nearby Kent Narrows!

Explore the winding waters of Tuckahoe State Park. Search for neotropical migrants, wading birds, and wood ducks. Friday 1:30-4 p.m.; $35 per canoe. Don't forget to attend the tally rally at Fisherman's Crab Deck at nearby Kent Narrows!
5. Prothonotary Paddle
Guided canoe trips will be offered on the Pocomoke River from Porters Crossing to Snow Hill, approximately a 4-hour trip, on Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. The Pocomoke River meanders through pristine woodlands, home to migratory warblers and woodpeckers, and offers a good chance to see a barred owl. $35 per canoe
6. Warblers on Water SUNDAY trip is FULL.
Guided canoe trips will be offered on the Nassawango Creek, a tributary to the Pocomoke River thick with warblers, on Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. Over 9,200 acres along Nassawango Creek have been preserved by The Nature Conservancy, which makes this 3-hour trip bordered by bald cypress a beautiful one. $35 per canoe
7. Kingfishers on King's Creek
Search for belted kingfishers and Eastern kingbirds along King's Creek. This guided kayak trip takes place near historic Princess Anne, and winds through marshes, forests, and fields. Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m.-noon; $35 per tandem kayak
8. Cypress & Songbirds
Pocomoke River State Park will serve as the site for a 2-hour paddling adventure on Corker's Creek. Your guide will help you search for great crested flycatchers, green herons and red-shouldered hawks. Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m.; $35 per canoe
9. Thompson Island Paddle
Enjoy a unique trip to a very special place showcasing Delaware's natural and cultural history. Join Delaware Seashore State Park staff for a limited access kayak trip to bird Thompson's Island Nature Preserve located just south of Rehoboth Beach, DE. We'll land on a bayside beach at the preserve and hike in search of spring migrants visiting the forest, beach, and marsh habitats. In the event of rain, participants will travel to the preserve via van. Must be 14 years old to participate. Sunday 1-4 p.m.; $20 per person
10. Moonlight Marsh Paddle
Paddle down the remote stretches of Scarboro Creek embedded in the 10,000 protected acres that surround the EA Vaughn Wildlife Management Area along Chincoteague Bay. The expansive marsh and scattered pines make for easy viewing of eagles, herons, and egrets along with Maryland terrapins and other aquatic species of the shallow, clear waters. Saturday 6-9 p.m.; $35 per canoe
Boat Excursions
11. Poor Man's Pelagic on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry This trip is FULL.
Join fellow birders for a special "poor man's pelagic" on board the Cape May-Lewes Ferry and birding at the worldfamous Cape May Light House and Higbee Beach! Enjoy the natural sights and sounds of the Delaware Bay, including opportunities to see great cormorant, gannet, and scoters. A van will deliver you to the New Jersey sites, and back to the ferry for a 2:30 p.m. departure. Join us as a foot passenger on the 9:15 a.m. departure from Lewes; and return to Lewes at 4:00 p.m. Thursday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; $50 per person, includes box lunch
12. Birding on the Broadkill This trip is FULL.
Depart from Lewes on board the Lil' Angler II as you bird by boat along the Broadkill River. Search for herons, egrets, and shorebirds along Beach Plum Island Nature Preserve and the banks of the Broadkill until you reach historic Milton in time for the "Beer, Birds & Bocce" event at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. The Cape May-Lewes Ferry will provide shuttle transportation to Dogfish Head, and back to Lewes. Thursday 2:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. (boat ride about two hours).; $35 per person
13. Shore Bird Explorer
Tour by boat around Skimmer Island and the north shore of Assateague Island. Glimpse wild ponies, oystercatchers, cormorants, loons, and royal terns. Don't forget to attend the free Birder's Social immediately following this trip. Saturday 2-4 p.m.; $15 per person
14. The Nature of Smith Island
Depart Crisfield, MD for a day-long birding cruise to historic Smith Island in the heart of the Chesapeake Bay. View many species of gulls, terns, shorebirds, herons, and brown pelicans. At midday, enjoy a walking tour and a hearty lunch of local island fare. Saturday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; $70 per person, includes lunch
15. Tern to Tangier
Take your "tern" traveling across Tangier Sound in search of the beautiful birds of the Bay. Enjoy a family-style lunch at the famous Chesapeake House, and take a tour of historic Tangier Island by foot or by golf cart (carts cost $4). Sunday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; $70 per person, includes lunch
16. Pocomoke River Boat Trip This trip is FULL.
Tour the Pocomoke River aboard the Bay Queen, and see warblers, herons and bald eagles. Don't forget to attend the Tally Rally at the Delmarva Discovery Center immediately following this trip. Saturday 2-4 p.m.; $20 per person
Night Life
17. Owl Prowl at Bombay Hook
Start your birding adventure Wednesday night on the trails of Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in search of resident owls (possibilities include Eastern screech, barn, barred and Great horned) and other nocturnal creatures. This trip will feature visits to fields, forests and wetlands - very little walking. Wednesday 8-10 p.m. $15 per person
18. Chesapeake Hoots
Explore the forests and marshes of the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center in search of resident owls, rails and other denizens of the dark. This trip offers a guided hike through fields, forests, and wetlands. Thursday 7-9 p.m.; $15 per person
19. Night Birds of the Marsh
The Ward Museum will host Night Birds of the Marsh on Saturday from 6:30-9 p.m. at the E.A. Vaughn Wildlife Management Area. Seek out least bitterns, rails, marsh wrens, and maybe even some owls. Bring a flashlight and boots or shoes you won't mind getting wet. Meet behind the Snow Hill Library; $15 per person
20. Assateague at Dusk
Assateague Island National Seashore will serve as host on Saturday night from 6-8 p.m. for a trip along the "Life of the Dunes Trail." Listen for rails, chuck-will's-widows, and an owl or two. Wild sounds of ocean surf, pine trees, and the stars above serve as a backdrop. Bring a flashlight. $15 per person; the park entry fee is waived for this trip
21. Owl Prowl at Pemberton
Explore the trails of Pemberton Historical Park in search of resident owls and other nocturnal creatures. This trip offers a guided hike through pine and hardwood forests and wetlands. Saturday 8-10 p.m.;$15 per person
Day Treks
22. Birds of the Bombay Hook
Delaware's most famous birding hot spot, Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge offers a cornucopia of birding opportunities - from salt marsh and bay beach to freshwater ponds and rich, deciduous woodlands. We'll sample each of the main habitat types looking for migrants and local breeders, including wading birds, shorebirds, rails, and colorful songbirds. The trip will involve some easy walking, and car caravans between major stops. (After the trip, meet at Sambo's dockside seafood restaurant in nearby Leipsic for a great lunch with your fellow birders!) Thursday 8-11 a.m.; $20 per person (lunch not included)
23. DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve
Search for migratory shorebirds, wading birds and waterfowl along Slaughter Beach, and learn about the connection between horseshoe crabs and shorebirds at the new DuPont Nature Center. Thursday 1:30-3:30 p.m.; $15 per person
24. Chesapeake Beach Birding
Bird within view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Queen Anne County's Terrapin Beach Nature Park. Beaches, ponds, fields and forests are home to migratory shorebirds, wading birds and colorful songbirds. Friday 8-11:30 a.m.; $15 per person
25. Birds and BayScapes
Explore the native plant gardens, forested streams and meadows of Adkins Arboretum, and learn about the importance of "bayscaping" for the birds. Friday 8-11:30 a.m.; $15 per person
26. Dark Forests of Newport
Saunter through old pines and oaks for some of the best forest species habitat on Delmarva. The 2,000-acre Newport Farms will reveal her secrets during this three-hour walk through private land protected with a conservation easement in 2002. A 50-acre shallow pond on the farm harbors nesting bald eagles, wood ducks, and wading birds. Sunday 8-11 a.m.; $25 per person
27. Warblermania!
Warblermania! will take place Saturday and Sunday from 6-11 a.m. Meet your guide at the Ward Museum and take a shuttle bus to Nassawango Creek to search for prothonotary, worm-eating, and prairie warblers, and other birds of the cypress swamp. $20 per person
28. Eagles and Others
On Saturday and Sunday from 7-9:30 a.m. explore the diverse habitats of Pemberton's trail system to view songbirds, wading birds, raptors, and the nesting area of breeding bald eagles; $15 per person
29. Delaware's Coastal Birding Delights
Explore Assawoman Wildlife Area's coastal bays, ponds, and forests. Possibilities include brownheaded nuthatches, waterfowl, wading birds, and bald eagles. Coastal Delaware is a birder's paradise. Meet your guide at Quiet Resorts Visitor Center, Fenwick-Bethany Chamber of Commerce. Sunday 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; $15 per person
30. Assateague Coast to Coast
Assateague Island National Seashore will serve as the site for a 3-hour guided hike in search of wings and withers. Discover egrets, willets, herons, towhees, warblers, vireos and wild horses on this beach-to-bay walk across one of the East Coast's most beautiful barrier islands. Saturday 8-11 a.m.; $18 per person includes park entry fee
31. Meandering Meadows
Stroll along some 150 acres of meadows surrounded by forest on the privately-owned Golden Quarter Farm along Ayers Creek. Meadowlarks, quail, indigo buntings, and wood ducks abound on the former farmstead regenerating to forested wetlands. Sunday 8-11 a.m.; $20 person
32. Cape Birding Escape
Cape Henlopen State Park provides opportunities to view migratory raptors and shorebirds including the endangered piping plover, as well as residents such as the brown-headed nuthatch. Come prepared to explore ocean dunes, tidal flats, maritime forest, and the park's World War II history. Friday 9-11 a.m. $25 per person
33. Birds of the Delaware Bay Coast
The Delaware Bay shoreline and its adjacent uplands offer the most diverse birding opportunities in southern Delaware - from salt marsh and bay beach to freshwater ponds and rich, deciduous woodlands. We'll sample each of the main habitat types looking for migrants and local breeders, including wading birds, shorebirds, rails, and colorful songbirds like prairie and prothonotary warblers,and scarlet tanagers. The trip will involve some easy walking, and car caravans between major stops. Meet at the entrance to the Rookery Golf Course. Friday 1-3:30 p.m.; $20 per person. 34. Natural Jewels of Johnson Bay
Lower Shore Land Trust joins the Delmarva Birding Weekend with a special invitation to visit this 336-acre private property along Johnson Bay. The owners have protected their farm under the Coastal Bays Rural Legacy Program, and have utilized various habitat enhancement programs to encourage a variety of birdlife, including quail, turkey, raptors, wading birds, and waterfowl. Salt marshes, freshwater ponds, fields, mixed forest, and buffers provide some ideal habitat along Worcester County's southern coastal area. Sunday 8-11 a.m.; $20 per person
35. Blackwater's Bald Eagles
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is home to the greatest density of breeding bald eagles in the mid-Atlantic. Blackwater provides critical habitat for a variety of bird species, which can be viewed in the Chesapeake marshes, ponds, fields, and forests. Sunday 1-4 p.m.; $20 per person

37. Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition
Saturday, April 26 12-4 p.m - See the world's best wildfowl carving and wildlife art at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City. Competition includes decorative wildfowl carving, contemporary antique decoys, working decoys, shorebirds, and youth competitions. Meet World Champion, master and professional carvers.
